Project Scope
Manufacture and delivery of Multi-Plate Arch Type 43AA for Greenock Creek Overpass
When ACP was approached by Bardavcol Pty Ltd. and asked to manufacture and supply a customised Multi-Plate™ Arch in record time, they were eager to take on the challenge.
The arch (span 7.5 m, rise 3.8 m, length 60.1 m) was specified by the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy & Infrastructure as a creek crossing over Greenock Creek, as part of the Sturt Highway upgrade project.
All the materials were manufactured at the Townsville facility and the plates were delivered to site by both road and rail. The design included a Multi-Plate™ Arch Type 43AA with a bituminous coating on the soil side of the arch, which works to extend the service life. The structure had concrete footings and the ends were reinforced with concrete ring beams. For the end finishes, two different types of bevels were pecified to match the existing site batter conditions – one with 2:1 pitch and the other with 1.5:1.
Although the deadline presented certain challenges, ACP comfortably met the client’s expectations, supplying a customised solution for the project quickly and economically.
Multi-Plate™ offers distinct advantages including a high strength to weight ratio, a wide range of shapes and sizes, versatile assembly and easy handling and shipping.
